BACKGROUND

HensleyCPA was formed by Joe Hensley. Joe has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1980, and is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He started HensleyCPA in 2010. Joe graduated in 1978 with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He worked for Ernst & Young in Atlanta before moving back to Ellijay, Georgia to work for a local CPA firm. Joe then acquired the firm and built it into the largest firm in North Georgia with offices in Blue Ridge, Ellijay, and Jasper. He served as managing partner of Hensley, Land & Associates, PC for 20 years, before selling the firm and moving on to other ventures in 2000.

After three years in the telecommunications business with a Georgia company as General Manager and COO, Joe joined a friend to begin the development of residential communities in North Georgia in 2002. There he was responsible for financial and a variety of other operational areas of a number of interrelated companies. Joe has also served in the community banking industry in several capacities including internal and external bank auditor, as well as provider of services in tax, loan review, and loan file documentation. Joe has also served as consultant in new bank charter applications, a bank director and organizer, and as chairman of an audit committee for a publicly traded institution.

Joe was born and raised in Ellijay, Georgia, and currently lives there with his wife Mary, and one of their five children. Joe and Mary’s other children live in Georgia. Joe’s other interests include music and a variety of outdoor pursuits.
